Big companies will help needy causes if they are "high profile" enough because it creates free advertising for them. If it's a small charity or such like then you can forget it. They'll only scratch your back if you scratch theirs.
Capitalist pigs!

This will hopefully cheer you up. It's a clip to this British comedy show where the guy pretends he's a psychic.
If the link dosn't work then just copy and paste it.

Lol, thanks. Pokey generally helps cheer me up though: http://www.yellow5.com/pokey/

wise words from the Prophet Jagger

I just got Forty Licks today for $17.99! I'm so happy :)

No one wants to do anything anymore that doesn't net huge monetary profits.

Greedy bastards.

I know. Starbucks actually is helping by donating gift certificates though... strange, huh?

I like your name.

January is tough on most local economies. many sports stores or local mom and pop operations are hurting for money at this time of year, especially when they are also doing tax book keeping for 2007. larger companies or chains usually are bound by parent company rules and a district manager would love to help, but his hands may be tied.

but you're right, you should see if tom would donate

That's interesting, I never thought of it in terms of the economy. I guess that would be pretty obvious, though. You're just chock-full of superduper ideas. Did you work for a non profit in a past lifetime? lols.

I just remember begging for donations for my class trip in high school and our local economy was based solely on tourism.

companies should really start to donate things to the communities, they have no idea on the impact that they will receive in doing things like that and the positive views they will be getting back from larger amounts of people.

people just don't care anymore, and it's becoming sad. :(

props to you for helping your friend get donations, that's a good thing you're doing there. <3

What do you expect? All those CEO's need their money for their big ass houses and their bomb shelters (some people actually have them). If I had bombs they would actually need them too. The biggest piss-off is that they wont even spare such a small amount from the huge profits that they roll in. On the other hand, I think I need a learjet.

Hey, undisappear.

Hi my name is

Al.

HA, WHATEVER

Money = power, etc.

Also, Saturday is the best day of the week, amirite?

No it's SUNDAY!!!

...but if you try sometimes, you might find that you get what you need.

So I'm helping my good friend with a luncheon for a Food Bank in our county, and I'm realizing that it's super hard to get donations. Seriously, companies don't want to donate even the slightest amount of goods/services. I feel like beating it into their heads that it's 1) tax deductible (because it's a donation to a 503(c) non-profit), and 2) it'll help their publicity because they're helping the community.

They're being such miserly Scrooges. :(

Thats okay though, because the art department of the local college is donating paintings to raffle off to guests. Surprisingly, they're of pretty good quality, too. Thank goodness people are standing up and doing the right thing.

Well that's just awesome.

didn't you used to be a mod?

RIP Saturday's modship.

You was my favourite. :'(
